pear shape jeans

I need help finding jeans (or pants in general) for a short (5'2), pear-shaped figure. I'm okay with wearing shorts or looser yoga/sleep/sweatpants, but I feel ridiculous in jeans most of the time. I couldn't figure out what was up with my body shape for the longest time. Then I saw this picture of Keira Knightley accompanied by a description of pear shapes (Unlike the typical pear shape, I'm a 34D, which made this confusing.) and thought, "AHA! Somebody else has not necessarily large hips, but large upper thighs!"

Does this make sense? I hope so, because I'm completely lost on what I could or should be wearing jeans-wise. I usually do American Eagle clearance for jeans (2 or 4 shorts, mostly Boyfriend style) so I'm hoping not to fall in love with anything over $30 or so but any suggestions regarding styles, cuts, or "general body/fashion tips," I'd genuinely really appreciate. thanks!

I'm pear-shaped as well, and short...5'4", but I have a long torso so sometimes even petite and short length jeans are long on me! I'm also a 34DD, so I understand your dilemma. I get most of my jeans at AE ('cuz I work there), and I really like the true boot. The waist is high enough so that it doesn't cause a muffin top effect, but low enough so that it doesn't make your butt appear gigantic, and the leg is wide enough to balance out your thighs. Any bootcut or straight leg jean with a medium-rise waist would probably be good for you. The AE favorite boyfriend is a little looser in the hips and thighs if you really need that extra room, but I always find the boyfriend fits me in the thighs but is too big for my butt or too small on my waist.

I recently walked into AE, and they re-did their entire denim line, and it's fantastic. I ended up buying three pairs of pants - Artist jeans, Boyfriend jeans, and a pair of khakis, and I love them. They fit perfectly, so much better than last year's AE jeans. I was amazed. I'm a 14 short with thick thighs and hips.

a good bootcut style as mentioned above or a trouser jean would both help balance out any upper thigh problems. As far as length, try petites. At 5'4" for me it seems petites run a little too small and regular jeans usually are too long but you might find a better fit with petites

Not sure what your size is, but I'm 5'2" and pear shaped and bought New York and Company "Curvy boho" in petite and they are probably the only jeans to ever fit me right. They are boot cut btw.

I'm 5'6" with small hips and curvy thighs and I love Levi's 517 bootcut jeans.

gap has a curvy line. i like it a lot for my ass (i'm small but have some junk), and my old roommate used to wear them and she was short and pear shaped

I think it was this one I was thinking of in the post, which is actually pointing out pear-shaped celebrities rather than actually defining the pear shape. Might be interesting though anyway!
