Dying hair with hairspray in it?

8:01 pm - 08/26/2010

I'm honestly just curious since I've seen mixed answers about this on the Internet, so I thought i'd come here.

I styled my hair and put hairspray (aussie instant freeze hairspray) in it this morning, pretty much 11-12 hours ago. However, i'm looking to dye my hair, hopefully tonight.

I just have the hairspray on the front part of my hair (the whole 50's pomp) and the dye I'll be using is one of garnier's red collection dyes (the medium intense red).

So my question is: can I dye my hair tonight without washing it and the color turn out okay? I've been seeing some yes answers and some no answers. Or should I just wash it tonight and wait until tomrrow to do it?

And if so, should I just use shampoo and no conditioner?

Thanks so much!

Well I just hopped in the shower and rinsed my hair with just water. I'll just dye it in the morning, which was originally my thought anyway.

And I do follow the rule of don't wash hair 24 hours until after coloring, since I've heard the color stays better.

Brush out your hair to get the hair spray out. Can you wait until tomorrow to color your hair?

That's what I was thinking too, but then I was like, well wouldn't there still be residue left?

Better to be safe than sorry. Although this is my second encounter with the intense red series color, ad then after that I went to a chocolate cherry. I just miss having red hair ): haha

I've dyed my hair with hairspray in it before. I wouldn't recommend it but I've done it without negative results.
