Products To Improve Skin Texture!

10:13 pm - 04/26/2011
 Hello lovely ladies,

So I know the best way to improve skin texture is exfoliation...Manual or chemical, but what products do you recommend using? What are your favourite products? What products have significantly improved the texture of your skin?

I suffer from combination, acne-prone skin with uneven texture particularly on my forehead and cheek area.

Please don't recommend the Clarisonic. It's way out of my budget right now. Also, please bear in mind I live in the UK so don't have access to many of the products you US lovelies do.

Thanking you muchly,

I have similar skin issues as you and I found that Lush's Angels on Bare Skin and Ocean Salt helped me out a TON.

Thank you. I have a LUSH store round the corner from where I work, so I will take a peak x

Boots No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator

google tells me they have that in the UK as well, but when i tried to post a link my comment got screened s:
it makes my skin super soft and even though it's not a large tube, it does last awhile since you don't need to use a lot.

We do have No7. It's a UK brand. I almost always have vouchers for £5 off No7, so will definitely try it when I have one. Thank you x

as an alternative to the clarisonic, I use something like this

I have the Body Shop version and to be honest, I haven't noticed a huge difference since using it :( x

i use philosophy's microdelivery exfoliating hasn't 100% improved my skin texture, but it's definitely helped (and has helped clear up acne as well) and is the only thing i've used that hasn't irritated my skin

Do you have access to Olay products? They have a new Pro-X system that's very similar to the Clarisonic.

Do you use Olay facial cleansing products with their Pro-X system or do you use other cleansers?

It comes with a scrub I use nightly. The first time I used it I had a pimple under the skin that was pretty big (think large pin-head size). I used this over it and the next day it was down to tiny pin-head size, less red, and irritated in general. It disappeared the next day. The same happens with regular pimples too. I swear this stuff is magic for my skin as I'm actually very acne prone. Other than that I use CeraVe moisturizer (not AM or PM) and some sun screen on top of it since it doesn't have any.

Seconding this. Olay & my face typically do not get along, so I use the exfoliating brush with my own cleanser, & my skin has been fantastic since!

Thanks! Yeah I agree about your comment about Olay & my face not disagreeing. I had their sensitive face lotion break me out in tiny pimples. I think this is the best (glowing, clearest, even) my skin has been in ages!

I have been using the Bare Minerals Exfoliating Treatment Cleanser. It's actually a powder that you mix with water. The BM MA told me to mix just a little bit of their Purely Nourishing Moisturizer (for combo skin) with the Exfoliating Treatment Cleanser to kind of make an exfoliating, moisturizing cleanser. It feels really nice on the skin. The exfoliator is SOOOOO gentle, which is great for me because I have acne and sometimes exfoliators aggravate it. I find that a lot of other exfoliators that I have used are way too rough on my face. It has not improved my skin 100% but I definitely see a difference and between using those 2 products + their cleanser and other BM products, I swear my acne is disappearing! and the spots aren't as red. yay!

I know most people hate on it, but I'm very partial to St.Ives apricot scrub (not sure if that's available to you). It's the only thing that I've used that's both reasonable in price and doesn't cause my skin to break out all crazy after one use. Well, other than an aspirin honey mask.

I think they have Neutrogena there -- I use "blackhead eliminating scrub." I don't even HAVE any blackheads, I just like the way it sloughs off my dull skin and makes it look so much brighter! I use it every day, it's not harsh at all, and it has salicylic acid in it to fight zits, too. The other stuff I use isn't in the UK. But I just started using the Neutrogena stuff again a couple weeks ago after YEARS of forgetting how much I loved it -- and it has made a big difference :)
